Diatomite is a naturally occurring, soft, siliceous sedimentary rock containing about 80%-90% silica. 

Diatomite is known to be a non-toxic way to control pests in the garden. It is effective against all insect pests that crawl on it because contact with its powder is extremely dehydrating. It is recommended to use as top dressing for Succulents, bonsai and cactus, and having it in your soil mix will help to absorb excess moisture in the pot and avoid rot in the roots.
